How to Comment on a Post

For a Blog to be truly effective it requires a couple of things. It requires a "Posting" by someone like Ashley, or her parents with information they would like you to know. But the real blessings come, when you, the reader, respond back! If you would like to send Ashley, or her family an encouraging word in response to one of her Posts, then simply click on the Comment section under the post and type in what you would like to say to them.

Follow the remainder of the instructions and your Comment to the Post should show up.If you would like to read the comments that were submitted, just click on the "Comments" and you will see what has been written. If you have any problems with the procedure or any questions, you can email pattikohrt@hotmail.com and I will help you! Have fun and let Ashley and the family know you are thinking about them!

Hello Everyone!

Today Ashley's trache was capped which means she is breathing completely through her nose! They plan on removing the trache really soon. We can hear her making sounds with her voice too.

Everyday therapists are working with her. She saw herself in the mirror and did well. I straightened her hair while she sat in her wheelchair and she looked at herself in the mirror and just smiled! They are working on motor skills, speech and physical therapy.

This hospital is over 150 years old and it is beautiful. They have a huge beautiful statue of Jesus that we pass by on the way to the cafeteria. All the staff is wonderful and we met an 18 year old girl from Uvalde who also has a condition similar to Ashley's. She is now talking, talking and eating! The work of our Lord is amazing! Please keep praying! We are feeling your prayers and seeing the miracles you are praying for!

We made it!

The ride to San Antonio went well. We watched movies on the way. When we arrived, Ashley's team was ready for her and all came to meet and greet her. They spent some time assessing her and started by sitting her up on the side of the bed. She was able to hold herself and her head up, so they put her in a wheelchair and took her on a tour of the floor.

Her room is very spacious and we can both stay with her. We are also allowed to decorate it with anything, except for balloons. Balloons are not allowed. You are welcome to send cards and letters to Ashley at this address:

Christus Santa Rosa Children's Hospital
333 North Santa Rosa Street, B9212, 9th Floor
San Antonio, Texas 78207

Or you can call her room at (210) 704-2011. We cannot thank you enough for all of your continued prayers, love and support that we have experienced. We are not through yet, so please continue to pray until Ashley's healing and recovery is complete!

Update on Ashley's roadtrip to San Antonio

Thank you! Thank you!
Words cannot describe our gratitude for your unselfish love for Ashley!
It was so overwhelming watching all of you at the BBQ.
Youu did not stop, and you did not give up, much like our Lord will not
stop or give up on Ashley's healing!
We could not have done this without you and we love you all!

BBQ Update

This is just a reminder that Ashely's BBQ is next weekend, on Saturday the 26th and we need everyone's help in two different areas.

First, anyone with BBQ Tickets and/or money, we are asking that you get those turned in ASAP. We have people asking for tickets, and any un-sold tickets may be used elsewhere.

And secondly, we still need manpower for the BBQ. You can never have too much help!

Please call Amparito at (956) 537-8332 for questions or instructions on what to do with left over tickets!

May God bless you all for your compassion and generosity!

An Answer to Prayer!

How Blessed are We!

How awesome is our Lord! Ashley is coming home before the weekend is over! She will receive her nursing and therapy at home until a slot opens for her in San Antonio. Thank you for all of your continued prayers and keep praying!

What A Blessing!

Last Saturday, Joey Mancillas, former Cougar -now San Benito resident - along with family and friends, walked from the Edinburg Children's Hospital in Edinburg to the San Juan Shrine in San Juan, as a promise fulfilled for Ashley's healing. Mrs. Mancillas sent these pictures in to share with you. Praise God for the faithfulness of the Youth! Come on Ashley! We are praying for you! Be Healed in Jesus' Name!

A note from the Family

Hello All!

First, thank you so much for your prayers and compassion the last few weeks. Words cannot describe how much you all mean to us during this time. Your generosity overwhelms us. We have two things we need help with.

First, we are going to need to get our house ready for Ashley to come home. We need help with cleaning, dusting and steaming anywhere that dust may be or could accumulate. We want to purchase a steam machine for floor areas, rugs, furniture and curtains for future cleaning. If anyone has any idea what type of machine would be best or where to find one reasonably, please contact us and let us know.

Also, we are looking for help with the cleaning this Saturday and Sunday (12th and 13th). If you would donate some of your time, we would be very grateful!

Blessings,

Lourdes and David

Thought for the Day

To get something you never had, you have to do something
you never did. When God takes something from your grasp,
He is not punishing you, but merely opening your hands
to received something better. The will of God will
never take you where the grace of God
will not protect you.
